Mrs. Fixit: Wheelbarrow Tire

November 3, 2012

Flip the wheelbarrow upside down on a flat surface and make sure it's steady and stable.

Most wheelbarrows will have a bracket covering the axle nut, remove one or both of the brackets and remove the nuts holding the axle in place to remove the tire.

Measure the hub length of your old tire which is the measurement from edge to edge on the axle. This measurement will tell you whether you need spacers to make your replacement tire fit correctly.

Slip the existing axle into the universal replacement tire centering the tire on the axle. Slide bushing spacers into place if you need them to make the tire fit correctly for your hub measurement.

Replace axle nuts and tighten them into place. Then replace your brackets that cover the nuts.

An easy fix that puts the wheelbarrow back to work! I'm Mrs. Fixit and it's just that simple!
