Sandy sends AC casinos to worst revenue drop ever

ATLANTIC CITY - November 9, 2012

Revenue at the 12 casinos was down nearly 20 percent in October, due largely to the fact that the casinos were closed for four days.

Yet the powerful storm left the casinos themselves virtually untouched - a fact that casino and tourism leaders are making a renewed effort to publicize.

But the nine Boardwalk and three Marina District casinos came through the storm in fine shape, and the resort is open and functioning.

The Atlantic City Alliance, the new marketing arm of the casinos, plans to emphasize that fact in a renewed outreach effort.

The casinos closed for the storm on Oct. 28 and reopened Nov. 2.
