Protest planned over violence in Camden

CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) - November 13, 2012

Fifty-eight people have been killed in the city in 2012, tying a record set in 1995.

A group calling itself Stop the Trauma on People earlier this year put up crosses in front of City Hall to commemorate those slain.

Last week, City Councilman Brian Coleman said he wanted the hand-painted crosses to be removed from that spot, saying they send a "negative image" about the city.

The mayor says the crosses can stay.

But activists plan to be at City Hall on Tuesday when the building is renamed for former Mayor Randy Primas.
