Shortly after 5:00 a.m., the water line under Carson Street near Cresson burst, sending water cascading down to Main Street.
Police, firefighters, and the water department were called to the scene.
Just before 7:00 a.m., the water department shut off the water that was spewing from the 6-inch main. Service was restored around 4:00 p.m.
Officials say six residences and one business were without water while crews repaired the break.
There is no word yet on what caused the main to break.
