Man beaten to death on Allentown street

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - December 5, 2012

Police were called at 2:40 a.m. to the 700 block of South Hall Street for the report of a disturbance. Arriving officer found an unresponsive man inside a vehicle who had visible signs of having been assaulted.

The victim, identified as 46-year-old Juan Alberto Devarie of Wyoming Street in Allentown, was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy performed Wednesday morning ruled the cause of death to be blunt force trauma to the head and the manner of death as homicide.

Investigators say when officers arrived on the scene they found three females with Devarie – one being the victim's daughter and another his niece. They told police that there was an altercation between their group and another group, comprised of two men and a woman. They say the victim was then assaulted by the men and woman.

The suspects were later identified, detained, and are being interviewed by police. Authorities say they will release the identities of the suspects later, in the event criminal charges are filed against them.
