Deadly police-involved shooting in Atlantic City, NJ

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - December 17, 2012

It happened at 2:00 p.m. Monday, after officers responded to a report of two armed men at the Stanley Holmes Village Apartment complex.

As police arrived at the complex, they confronted the men and ordered them to drop their weapons. One suspect, a 24-year-old man, complied. Police say the other, an 18-year-old man, fled.

Officers chased the man to the 200 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, where police say a uniformed officer opened fire, wounding the man.

Medics took him to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit is now investigating the shooting. Anyone with information about case is being asked to call Major Crimes at (609)-909-7666.

The 24-year-old man was taken into custody and has been charged with weapons offenses, resisting arrest and obstruction of justice. He is behind bars on $100,000 cash bail
