Gas station shooting caught on camera in Camden, NJ

CAMDEN, N.J. - December 18, 2012

It happened just after 6:30 a.m. at the CITGO station in the 1900 block of Admiral Wilson Boulevard.

Two attendants were working alone when they were ambushed.

The attack was captured on multiple video surveillance cameras. The two robbers come running across the lot from the west side of the station.

The two attendants, Mario and Carmello, were standing near one of the pumps. Carmello started handing over money to the robber with the gun. Mario fought back, knocking down the other robber.

The one with the gun then started shooting, hitting Mario in the side. They ran off westbound. But Mario didn't go down.

He and Carmello walked into the station office and Mario could be seen pacing around as Carmello called 911.

Mario was rushed to Cooper Hospital where he was initially listed in critical condition.

The owners of the gas station bought it in April. In November, it was held up by two gunmen on bicycles twice.

Now it's been robbed a third time, and this time someone got hurt.

This is a lonely stretch of the Boulevard after dark, making this a tempting target for thieves.

Camden Police are chasing down leads, but it will be hard to identify the robbers since the video never got a good close look at their faces.

Police have not released any information. The mayor's office tells us the victim was 29 years old and was last reported to be in critical condition.
