Boston officer rescues woman from frigid water

BOSTON, Mass. - December 22, 2012

Cameras were rolling yesterday when Officer Edward Norton plunged into the frigid waters of the Fort Point Channel Friday.

A woman had fallen in, and he didn't think twice about coming to her rescue.

"That cop was a hero today. He didn't think twice about it," said Keith Young.

"That's our job to show up when people call for help. If we don't help, no one is going to," said Edward Norton, rescuing officer.

Norton used a life preserver to reach the woman. They were picked up by a boat along with two firefighters who also jumped in to help.

No one was seriously hurt.
