Chip Kelly reportedly on Eagles' radar

January 4, 2012

"It's an honor that someone would want to coach in the NFL," he said.

Kelly will field interviews with a handful of teams including the Eagles over the next week.

Jeff Lurie and the Birds may have to battle it out with former team president Joe Banner - who's now with Cleveland - for the right to land Kelly.

"I've said I'll always listen. It's more of a fact finding mission about whether it fits or doesn't fit. I don't really have that answer. I've been on one interview for the NFL in my life and that was a year ago," said Kelly.

While Kelly is prepared to hear what Lurie and general manager Howie Roseman have to say about the team and the city, he does know a few things about Philadelphia.

When asked Thursday night about his upcoming interview, he said jokingly "You guys have a big fan base at Pats and Geno's."

When Kelly meets with the Eagles, it would be his first interaction with Roseman. The two met briefly back in September during a recruiting trip.
