Hit-and-run driver slams into NJ pizza shop

PENNSAUKEN, NJ - January 5, 2013

It happened around 3:30 Saturday morning at Roman's Pizza on the 3600 block of Marlton Pike.

Authorities say the driver lost control and struck the building, causing significant damage, then later fled the scene.

"When I came here this morning I couldn't believe it," said owner Stephanie Boese.

Roman Pizza owner Stephanie Boese was in utter shock and disbelief after seeing her business of 10 years destroyed.

"They ran into the building, backed up, went in again, backed up, and then drove off," said Boese.

The fact that the SUV drove into the building not once, but twice, leads one to question if this was an intentional crash.

"I don't think I have any enemies," said Boese.

The SUV's bumper sits amid the debris inside the shop along with shattered glass, mangled steel appliances, and supplies strewn across the store.

Police say the hit and run crash happened around 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

"I'm shocked that the vehicle made so much damage," she said. "Hopefully, we'll clean this up and get back to business in a month or two and put the worst behind."

The crash is still under investigation.
