Flyers' Laviolette back where he belongs - at rink

NEW YORK - January 7, 2013

TIMELINE: NHL lockout & past labor issues

They're not all back yet, but they will be here soon, as the Flyers finally get a chance to wash away the sting of another short playoff run last season.

The standard group of workout regulars that included defenseman Kimmo Timonen and forwards Max Talbot and Jody Shelley were back Monday morning for a light workout in New Jersey. It was their first unofficial meeting since the NHL and the players' union reached a tentative agreement a day earlier after a lengthy lockout.

The Flyers ditched their NHLPA jerseys for their regular ones with the team logo and skated in front of a few dozen fans.

Laviolette says the short season makes it more important than ever for the Flyers to get off to a fast start.
