Delaware fires football coach after 11 seasons

NEWARK, Del. (AP) - January 8, 2013

Keeler was 86-52 with the Blue Hens and led them to a Division I-AA national title in 2003 and two subsequent championship game appearances in 2007 and 2010.

Athletics director Eric Ziady says Keeler's success at the school will "forever be etched in the hearts and minds of the Blue Hen faithful," but that a change in direction is needed. Delaware went 12-10 over the past seasons and missed the post-season in four of the last five seasons.

Keeler was a linebacker for Delaware from 1978-1980. He served as head coach at Rowan University for nine seasons before taking over at Delaware in 2002.

Among Keeler's notable players is current Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco.
