Ehret says says getting lots of birthday freebies can be as easy as signing up for restaurants and retailers' email clubs.
She says, "Restaurants have caught on that most people don't celebrate alone on their birthday. So they hope that if they give you a really nice birthday freebie, you'll bring 20 of your closest friends and celebrate there. it's a win-win."
Her personal favorite birthday freebie is the annual free drink from Starbucks.
"The best part about it is that you get to choose what size drink, so I recommend a Venti, of course," she says.
Ehret says the most valuable freebie she's found comes from Benihana.
"You can get a free birthday certificate to save up to $30 on your meal."
Denny's and IHOP offer free breakfasts and Red Robin a free burger for lunch.
