The South Jersey Transportation Authority (SJTA) has sent letters to 147 people and companies with at least $200 in unpaid tolls warning them that the deadline to settle up is February 7.
The SJTA says the motorists were warned last year that they could lose their registrations.
The New Jersey Turnpike Authority has run a similar program to try to crack down on toll evaders.
Officials say they hope the program will bring in more than $155,000 in past-due tolls from chronic toll cheats.
A chronic toll cheat is defined as a motorist with more than $200 in fines outstanding.
The SJTA says this amounts to "theft of services".
Each motorist who receives a letter can set up a hearing and discuss options including setting up a payment plan.
