Montco jewelry store owner kidnapped, robbed at store and home

EAST NORRITON, Pa. - January 31, 2013

It all began at the owner's Tredyffrin Township home Thursday night.

Police say the Chester County victim was robbed at gunpoint by four masked men of an undisclosed amount of money.

The victim tells police he was then forced to drive the men to his Montgomery County jewelry store, Shuler's Jewelers, located at 110 West Germantown Pike in East Norriton.

Once at the store, he was robbed of an undetermined amount of merchandise.

The suspects fled with the store owner's car and remain at large. The vehicle is a white 2012 Volkswagen Passat with the Pennsylvania tag DJM-0696.

Police were then called to the scene shortly before 8:00 p.m.

The owner, who was not injured, was interviewed by police at the store. The owner's wife was at home at the time of the robbery, but was not harmed.

Police say this is not the first time the store has been held up.

East Norriton police released surveillance footage back in 2011 of a smash and grab robbery at the store.

Police reported that during the robbery, employees were forced into a back room as the robbers stole several Rolex watches.

Police say they may be dealing with the same group of thugs who pulled off a similar heist in Lehigh County in December.

An employee of Bixler's Jewelers was kidnapped from his home in Bethlehem and taken to the store in South Whitehall Township.

The robbers grabbed the loot and took off in the victim's car.

Detectives say they have collected quite a bit of evidence from both crime scenes.
