Phila. officer charged for firing shots at building

LOGAN - February 1, 2013

The incident happened back in October 2012 on the 1400 block of West Rockland Street.

Witnesses reported seeing 27-year-old Ofc. Pharez Morris attempting to get into an apartment building.

After failing to get in, witnesses say Morris pulled out a gun and shot at the building multiple times.

No one was injured. After firing the shots, a woman came and let Morris inside.

Police say an investigation revealed that shortly after the shooting, Morris placed a fake 9-1-1 call to divert authorities.

Morris turned himself into Internal Affairs on Friday afternoon and faces charges including unlawful discharge.

The six-year veteran is also suspended from the force with intent to dismiss.
