Crews battled an underground cable fire in Philadelphia's Queen Village section early Thursday morning that forced evacuations for area residents.

The fire broke out in the 700 block of Passyunk Avenue.

Officials say an underground cable caught fire and caused a building to be evacuated because of the smoke.

The fire was placed under control and residents were allowed back in their homes.

PECO was called to the scene to make repairs after dozens of customers lost power.

There were no reports of any injuries.
