Priest sentenced for Atlantic City church theft

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - February 8, 2013

57-year-old Timothy S. Holder was arrested in January 2012 for stealing from the Church of the Ascension on Kentucky Avenue.

Holder worked as the church's rector between 2007 and 2009.

An investigation revealed that during that period, Holder cashed over $35,000 worth of checks on the church's bank account.

Holder pleaded guilty in December and was sentenced to two years probation and ordered to pay $24,500 in restitution back to the church.
