District Attorney Tom Hogan says a man's body was removed from the residence in North Coventry Township after crews responded to a fire there. The blaze had broken out at the Hanover Gardens Apartments around 7:00 p.m. Tuesday.
The blaze was quickly controlled and investigators found the body afterward.
Authorities say blood was smeared on the wall of the staircase leading to the second-story apartment. The death has been ruled a homicide, but police aren't saying how he was killed or if they have any suspects.
The victim's name has not been released.
