Hunting Park residents allowed back after gas leak

HUNTING PARK - February 14, 2013

A PGW spokesperson tells Action News the source of the leak is still not known. All gas mains in the area appeared to be functioning normally.

But since natural gas readings in the area had returned to normal, residents were allowed to return.

The incident was brought under control at 10:56 a.m.

The call first went out for an odor of gas just after 9:00 a.m. Thursday in the 4500 block of North 12th Street.

Evacuated residents from a total of 12 homes were taken to a church at 12th and Wyoming.

PGW said at that time that it detected higher than normal readings in the area, and the evacuations were just a precaution.

The Red Cross responded to the scene to assist those affected.
