The shooting happened around 11:30 p.m. Thursday outside the Holiday Inn Express on the 100 block of North Christopher Columbus Boulevard.

There was an altercation in front of the parked tour bus of rapper French Montana. Police say there were a number of people parked in cars, including some fans who had followed the rapper to the hotel following his performance at the Theatre of the Living Arts on South Street.

"A large crowd of fans, as well as some of the entourage, were loitering and just hanging out on Christopher Columbus Boulevard when according to some of the witnesses a car drove by and opened fire," said Chief Inspector Scott Small.

A 27-year-old man was shot in the stomach and later pronounced dead at Hahnemann University Hospital.

A second victim, a 29-year-old man, was driven by private vehicle to Jefferson University Hospital after being shot in the shoulder.

Police found an abandoned car with gunshot holes near the hospital. They don't know if the wounded man drove himself there or if someone else drove him and then took off.

According to police, several people who were taken into custody had loaded semi-automatic handguns.

More than two dozen people - fans, band mates and some of the rapper's entourage - were taken in for questioning.

The shooting remains under investigation. So far, no homicide charges have been filed.
