Midwest storm could pose threat to Jersey shore

TRENTON, N.J. - March 5, 2013

The biggest threat at this point is strong winds and rain that could also become wet snow. However, the storm's track is a work in progress.

The National Weather Service has issued a coastal flood watch for the entire Jersey shore from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday evening. Forecasters say moderate tidal flooding is expected with pockets of major flooding possible.

A high wind watch also is in effect Wednesday through Thursday for north winds of 25 to 25 mph that could pack gusts up to 55 mph.

Forecasters are calling for mainly rain in south Jersey and along the coast. However, inland areas could see a mix of rain and snow.
