It was 9:40 a.m. when the call went out of an officer down on 63rd Street just north of Grays Avenue.
Initial reports indicate that the officer stopped her vehicle to investigate another vehicle on 63rd Street. Her car apparently did not go into the Park gear, and rolled backwards.
When she ran behind the vehicle to stop it from rolling, a civilian car was coming from behind. Apparently not aware of the situation, the civilian car struck the officer, pinning her between the two cars.
Police say the injured officer yelled at the civilian motorist to move. The motorist did that and hasn't been seen since.
The officer was transported to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. At this hour she is listed in stable condition with a leg injury.
Police are still investigating the incident, and so far have not released the injured officer's name.
