Nation's oldest senator sidelined by leg pain

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - March 11, 2013

U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg of New Jersey missed voting on the confirmation of John Brennan to become head of the Central Intelligence Agency.

Lautenberg spokesman Caley Gray told The Record newspaper the 89-year-old Democrat had pain in his legs and was getting them checked out.

Lautenberg was sick with the flu in late December and early January. He missed several votes related to a $60 billion relief package for Superstorm Sandy.

Lautenberg announced last month he would retire next year and not seek re-election.
