According to authorities, on October 18, 2012 42-year-old Troy Czukoski of Exton, Pennsylvania was in possession of more than 150 images of children engaging in sexually explicit conduct.
At the time of the investigation, Czukoski was serving as principal of the Springton Lake Middle School, located on N Providence Road in Media.
The school is part of the Rose Tree Media School District. Today the school district released the following statement:
"Early this morning we were disappointed to learn from the U.S. Attorney's office that Dr. Troy Czukoski, the former principal of Springton Lake Middle School, has been charged with the possession of images of "children engaging in sexual explicit conduct." Prior to the release of this information, Dr. Czukoski resigned his position in which he worked for Rose Tree Media School District for only 14 weeks. There is no evidence that Dr. Czukoski ever mistreated any of our children. For this we are all relieved and thankful."
If convicted, Czukoski faces a maximum possible sentence of 10 years in prison, a mandatory five years of supervised release and up to a lifetime of supervised release, a $250,000 fine and a $100 special assessment.
Czukoski's lawyer says his client was sexually abused as a child and has been in therapy since his house was raided by federal agents in October.
His lawyer says Czukoski plans to plead guilty and accept responsibility.
