Delaware to get national monument designation

DOVER, Del. (AP) - March 22, 2013

U.S. Sen. Tom Carper has been working to end Delaware's status as the only state in the country without a National Park.

Carper says the National Monument designation is a good step toward the ultimate goal of a National Park for Delaware.

Officials say President Obama on Monday will sign a proclamation to designate a First State National Monument in Delaware under the Antiquities Act.

The sites in the national monument designation include the Woodlawn Trustees property near Wilmington, the Old New Castle Courthouse, the New Castle Green and the Dover Green.
