The Berks County fire broke out on North 13th Street.
Heavy winds help spread the flames like a wild fire, making it tough to get the blaze under control, officials said.
One woman was checked out for smoke inhalation.
At least five homes were damaged and the Red Cross is assisting those families forced from their homes.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
