Team members had their heads shaved to raise money for a charity called "Basebald."
The philanthropic effort was Coach Ryan Wheeler's idea. A father of three, Wheeler lost his own dad to cancer and wanted to help kids and their families fighting the disease.
"It really puts things in perspective, when we're playing a baseball game and trying to win or lose, to see children suffer like that, it's beyond words," said Coach Wheeler.
At first, the players were a bit unsure about having their heads shaved.
"I've got a little bit of length on it so it's going to be somewhat of a radical change," said Henry Knabe.
However it didn't take long before the team got in the game, setting up a fundraising webpage and asking their family, friends and alumni to donate.
"It caught me off guard a little bit and not everyone was thrilled to do it but it's for a great cause. We're coming together as a team and it's for the kids so it's going to be a great thing," said Matt Elko.
"It's a great thing to do. I'm happy to be a part of it. My grandma had colon cancer twice and survived it both times, so it's been close to my heart and I'm glad we can help out the kids," said Allen Stitles.
The Owls have already surpassed their initial fundraising goal of $2,500 but donations are still being accepted.
