For the past six years, April McCaughey has been offering clients at Newtown's Urban Allure Salon and Spa a great deal in the month she's named for: April.

"It's my sixth annual $45 Facials with April in April," she explains.

Ordinarily, a personalized deep-cleansing facial costs $75.

McCaughey explains, "It's a great deal, it's a great opportunity for people who are on a strict budget, it's kind of a gift to the clients who come in regularly, and an opportunity to meet new people."

Urban Allure isn't the only local spa offering special deals right now. This is Spa Week, and dozens of spas are offering a variety of service for just $50 each.

At the Lotus Health and Wellness Center -- also in Newtown -- you have a choice of services that usually cost $195 to $250.

Owner Barry Shapiro says, "We're doing a five-element accupuncture, we're doing an aromatherapy massage and then we're doing a vitamin C facial. And then we're including a health-coaching session in each one as well."

Services vary from one participating spa to the next, but no matter what you choose, Shapiro says Spa Week is a great time to treat yourself without breaking the bank.

He says he thinks a lot of people are like him, "I'm a parent, so I spend most of my time and energy and money on childen. So it's nice, every once in a while, to get out and treat yourself to something new, beause, again, we're running all the time, and there's stress and it's a nice to treat yourself in an inexpensive way."
