How will the President's new budget affect healthcare?

April 11, 2013

In the wake of the Sandy Hook school tragedy, the president wants a $130 million initiative to expand services.

$55 million of that would help school districts identify and treat students with mental health problems.

There would also be another $30 million to track and prevent gun violence.

The Food and Drug Administration would get $821 million to boost food and drug safety.

However, Medicare would be cut $400 billion over 10 years. Those costs are said to be covered by the new healthcare law.
