Off-duty officer stabbed, robbed in Northeast Philadelphia, officials say

NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA - April 30, 2013

The incident took place around 10:00 p.m. Monday along Grant Avenue near Torresdale Avenue.

Police say the 28-year-old officer, who lives in the area, was out for a jog when he was attacked by two men.

During the attack the suspects struck him in the head and stabbed him twice in the stomach.

The suspects managed to get cash and the officer's iPod from him before fleeing the scene.

The injured officer was rushed by medics to Aria Health Torresdale Campus. At last check he was listed in stable condition.

One of the attackers is described as a white man, around six feet tall, with a beard.

Police are now reviewing private surveillance from Holy Family University.

The two suspects remain at large.
