Finding a place to eat on Mother's Day

Each family's needs are different, so things are crowded everywhere from the neighborhood diner to exclusive and pricey gourmet enclaves.

One option almost certainly near you would be Iron Hill Brewery, which operates nine locations throughout the tri-state region.

Each has a brewer and a chef in residence, and each is free to produce a dining experience for its unique clientele. We took the Action Cam to their Chestnut Hill location, where head chef Jared Cannon will be serving both brunch and dinner Mothers Day.

Cannon's menu has family-friendly prices and there's a just-for-kids section that will offer breakfast favorites in kid sizes at brunch. That'll be served from 11:00am to 2:00pm. Then the focus will turn to dinner, and Cannon is preparing special treats moms will enjoy.

He's planning a Maine lobster risotto, for example, and a baked brie appetizer. Entree selections will include a center-cut filet mignon, and dessert will feature red velvet cake...his own mother's favorite. Iron Hill's beers are brewed seasonally.

There's no specific Mothers Day beer, but the available choices will certainly coordinate well with the menu. Dinner Sunday will be served through 9:00pm.

Iron Hill is online and you may find your nearest location there. You may make reservations via that website, and they're also on Open Table.

The Chestnut Hill location is at 8400 Germantown Avenue. The phone number there is 215-948-5600.

Walk-ins are welcome as seating is available, but on Mothers Day, that's probably not your best choice. especially if you have younger children in tow.
