It happened before 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Pidcock Creek and Windy Bush Roads.
Images from Chopper 6 HD over the scene showed an SUV and a pickup truck, both with heavy front-end damage.
Police say one person was trapped in one of the vehicles and had to be extricated. There were also reports of a fire in the engine compartment of one of the vehicles.
The extricated person was airlifted to St. Mary Medical Center with injuries reported to be serious.
There was no immediate word on how many other people may have been hurt.
A police investigation was underway.
