The fire broke out just before 4:00 a.m. on the 100 block of Caribou Court.
When Deptford Township Police Officer Tim Parks arrived on the scene he kicked in the door to the burning home and managed to pull out one resident.
The victim, identified as 58-year-old Christopher Mach, suffered burns to 40-percent of his body. He is currently hospitalized in critical but stable condition.
Mach's daughter and granddaughter were at the home but not inside at the time of the fire. Both were unharmed.
The fire was placed under control within a half hour, but not before damaging the kitchen and living room of the house.
Witnesses tell police that they saw a man standing outside the house, then running away as the fire erupted.
The cause remains under investigation by the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office and the Deptford Township Police Department.
