Fire forces evacuation of North Philadelphia high-rise

PHILADELPHIA - May 25, 2013

Fire crews were called to an 11-story apartment building in the 2400 block of North 11th Street for reports of a fire in the trash chute.

Officials say smoke filled the upper floors of the building forcing temporary evacuations.

Everyone was allowed to return after the smoke cleared around 5:00 a.m.

The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
