Crimefighters: $18,000 reward in Penn Wood HS arson, threat

YEADON, Pa. - May 25, 2013

Someone set fire to the Green Avenue campus in Lansdowne on April 18th causing extensive damage.

"It was so bad that they had to close the school down," said John Apeldorn, Citizens Crime Commission.

Several days later, someone called in a threat to the Cypress Street campus in Yeadon.

"This is serious business, you start messing with the schools, you start messing with the community and they don't want to put up with it," said Apeldorn.

In response, the William Penn School District, community members and two politicians have pulled together a reward.

$18,000 is being offered for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Citizens Crime Commission at 215-546-TIPS (8477). Tips can remain anonymous.
