Police: 2 dropped puppies from central Pennsylvania bridge

LEWISTOWN, Pa. (AP) - May 30, 2013

The Centre Daily Times reports a witness reported seeing the puppies being dropped 25 feet into a river from the bridge in Lewistown. Authorities responded and police say the dogs, German shepherd mix puppies, were taken away.

Investigators say 22-year-old Lewistown resident Cody Ritter and 20-year-old Burnham resident Dustin Fetters have been charged with animal cruelty. Telephone listings for the men could not immediately be located.

Police say two Lewistown women who own the dogs, 23-year-old Karissa Walters, and 20-year-old Shawnee Strawser, were allowing the men to abuse the animals. They are also charged with animal cruelty. It couldn't immediately be determined if they had attorneys.
