Pennsylvania soldier killed in Vietnam War honored

A mile-long stretch of County Line Road in Horsham has been officially dedicated as the James P. Kelly Memorial Highway.

Family and friends gathered at Sunday's ceremony to remember Kelly, killed Sept. 27, 1965, at age 23 in South Vietnam. They called him a baseball fanatic, good son, and dedicated soldier.

The dedication is part of an effort by state Rep. Thomas Murt to use local landmarks to pay tribute to area soldiers who died in Vietnam.

Murt said Kelly was the fifth of seven soldiers he has undertaken to recognize, adding that he launched the effort because he felt Vietnam veterans hadn't gotten the recognition they deserved.
