Linda Nell described the tense moments at her home in Absecon, New Jersey.
Nell says her neighbor's two dogs broke through her screen door and bit her 73-year-old husband then their golden retriever Chrissy.
Her husband remains hospitalized with bite wounds to his arm.
The 10-year-old golden retriever had to be put to sleep because of her injuries.
"She was our family pet. I never even heard her growl. She never even fought these dogs, she just laid there. She couldn't move," said Nell.
Nell says police killed one of the attacking dogs and brought the other one under control.
Absecon Police continue to investigate.
