Lehigh County rescue dog helps rescue owner

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - July 10, 2013

The Sicher family of Allentown says their pet, Bubba, helped save his owner from a diabetic episode.

Richard Sicher passed out in the shower on Monday because his blood sugar was too low. Bubba started barking to awaken Richard's wife, Sherry.

Sherry normally wears hearing aids, but takes them out before bed. Bubba, though, just kept it up, and was loud enough to wake her, so she could call for help.

Richard is recovering at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest.

Three years ago the Sichers rescued Bubba the day he was scheduled to be euthanized.
