Delaware truck driver crashes into tree, parked cars

CLAYMONT, Del. - July 12, 2013

The accident happened on Marsh Road near Silverside Road in Claymont just after 6:30 a.m.

Police say the 22-year-old driver of a Dodge Ram pickup truck was traveling at a high rate of speed when he lost control and crashed into a tree. He continued driving striking several parked cars at the Graylyn Shopping Center before coming to a stop.

Authorities say the driver was trapped for approximately 30 minutes before fire and rescue crews were able to extricate him.

He was rushed to the hospital in serious condition for multiple injuries.

No word what caused the driver to lose control. The accident remains under investigation.
