Madeline Guglielmo, 51, is accused of stealing the money from the victim, an 86-year-old woman.
Police say the money was supposed to be used to provide health care for the victim.
Instead, investigators say, Guglielmo spent the money on shopping sprees.
She has been charged with felony theft and other offenses.
Guglielmo is in custody in lieu of bail.
