Man dies after being shot at point blank range in North Philadelphia

NORTH PHILADELPHIA - July 23, 2013

The incident occurred shortly after 11:00 p.m. on the 2500 block of North 16th Street.

According to police the victim, Jerome Daughtry, was shot twice at close range while riding on a bicycle near the M. Hall Stanton Elementary School.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.

They say a total of seven shots were fired and bullets from an automatic weapon were found in the area.

Police are checking school security cameras to see if they recorded the scene.

So far, no arrests have been made or a motive determined for the shooting.
