Authorities identify tree trimmer killed in Bethlehem

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - July 29, 2013

The (Easton) Express-Times reports the victim is 42-year-old Robert Rogers, of Lock Haven.

Rogers was working for Asplundh Tree Expert Co. when he was clearing branches away from power lines in Bethlehem under the Minsi Trail Bridge on Saturday.

The company says it's investigating the accident, but isn't commenting out of respect for Rogers' family.

Asplundh was hired by PPL Electric Utilities, which typically trims the trees in advance of Bethlehem's Musikfest event.

Rogers either fell or jumped into the Lehigh River after his truck came into contact with the power line, causing it to catch fire.
