Leo Strazzeri was convicted of hitting 45-year old Daniel Tavarez as he crossed White Horse Pike in his wheelchair in July 2012.
Strazzeri then left the scene, later claiming he wasn't aware he hit a person.
Before being sentenced Friday, the tearful father of two apologized and pleaded for mercy.
"I know what I did and I wish I had one more chance because I know this would never happen again. I don't know what I would do without my kids and my loved ones," he said in court.
The judge also ruled that because Strazzeri is a first-time offender, he is eligible for New Jersey's Intensive Supervision program.
