Fans flock to the Linc to get a look at Chip Kelly's Eagles

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA - August 5, 2013

Instead of heading to Lehigh University, this year fans converged on South Philadelphia to feast their eager Eagle eyes on training camp. The gates opened around 10:30 a.m. and there were already lines to get inside and get a look.

Predictions are flying for this new season under new head coach Chip Kelly.

Kevin Murray, who is currently stationed in Virginia with the United States Navy, explained why he is excited to see Chip Kelly's new Eagles team, saying, "I loved him in Oregon and I'm just glad to see change. We needed change."

Joey Von Rohr of York, Pennsylvania wasn't so optimistic about the Eagles' season. He tells us, "I think we're not going to make it to the playoffs. We're going to come close, but we're not. And we still have years to come to get better."

Tony Jones from Haverford County, Maryland says, "Defensively, Connor Barwin, they've gotten better - Cary Williams. You know, Nnamdi's gone but hey, it's a good improvement."

Lots to look at and lots to think about for this year's lineup. But of course, who the starting quarterback will be or should be is on the brain.

Megan McGarvey of Haverford, Maryland says, "I want to see the difference between the quarterbacks, like Matt Barkley, Nick Foles, Michael Vick. I'm hoping Michael Vick will be the starter, but we'll see."

Many of the fans here today are men and women in uniform. It is Military Appreciation Day and the Eagles donated 700 tickets to training camp for military and two guests. Players will also sign autographs.

Staff Sergeant Reginald Green tells us, "Even though it is not warranted, it is nice to know that, hey, someone's got your back. And to say, 'Hey, we appreciate you for what you're doing.'"
