The Delaware State Police are investigating an attempted abduction near Laurel.

The 20-year-old victim tells police she was walking eastbound on Whitesville Road just east of Old Stage Road around 3:00 p.m. Sunday when a white 4-door sedan pulled up in front of her and the driver exited the vehicle.

The victim started running away from the driver who was spooked off when a passing car approached.

The woman tells police the male driver once again exited his car and was able to grab a hold of the victim in an attempt to get her in his car.

The victim was able to free herself from his grasp outside his car when another vehicle approached and saw the two in a struggle.

The suspect entered his car and fled westbound on Whitesville Road.

The passerby then drove the victim to Delmar Police Department to report the incident.
