Syrup spill on Pa. highway

LIGONIER, Pa. (AP) - August 7, 2013

Ligonier Township police have yet to release the name of the driver or the truck company involved in Tuesday afternoon's crash, which has kept U.S. Route 30 closed into Wednesday afternoon.

The truck was westbound in Ligonier Township when it rolled over about 6 p.m., spilling at least 23 55-gallon drums of the syrup on the highway. Crews couldn't hose it off for fear it might foul a nearby creek, so crews were working to soak it up and scoop up the residue using front-loaders.

The extent of the driver's injuries wasn't immediately clear Wednesday.
