Trial ordered for Philadelphia man in central Pa. death

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - August 27, 2013

The Williamsport Sun-Gazette says a Lycoming County judge upheld charges against 21-year-old Tyrell Boyd after a preliminary hearing Monday.

Boyd is charged homicide, aggravated assault and firearms counts in the July 20 slaying of 21-year-old Ansari Wilson.

Investigators in Philadelphia and Williamsport said Boyd asked them about the possibility of the death penalty and also referred to the "castle doctrine" self-defense provision in state law.

One alleged that Boyd told him that the victim was killed because he was "greedy."

Boyd's age was originally incorrectly reported as 14.

The judge also upheld charges of hindering prosecution and evidence-tampering against another defendant in the case.
