University of Pennsylvania police officer killed in Va. motorcycle crash

NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA - August 31, 2013

Officer James "Jimmy" Morrison died after crashing his bike during the annual rally of the Blue Knights.

He was riding along Madison Road in Culpeper when an 84-year-old man driving a pick-up truck pulled out in front of him. Morrison lost control, police say.

Police escorted Morrison's body to the Givnish Funeral Home in Northeast Philadelphia on Friday night.

The Action Cam was there as a few gathered to salute the 47-year-old officer's casket.

"Officer Jimmy Morrison was a model father, husband, Patriot, and University of Pennsylvania Police Officer. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends," said Maureen Rush, Vice President for Public Safety at UPenn.

Morrison served as a police officer on the Penn campus for the past six years and local president of the law enforcement group, the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club.

He also served in the Air Force and worked 13 years as a Philadelphia Housing Authority officer.

So far, there is no word on when the funeral will be held.
